FAQ

After signing up & ordering materials what do I do?

It is your responsibility to read the instructional text and complete the knowledge reviews at the end of each module. If you don't understand the material just give us a call or send and email. If doing a Home Study you must also watch the videos (DVD or VHS) or complete the CD-ROM if using a PC.

What do I need to bring to class?

You must bring your:

  1. text book
  2. RDP tables
  3. log book
  4. student folder.

You will also need:

  1. swim suit
  2. towel
  3. mask & snorkel
  4. fins
  5. booties
  6. gloves
  7. any other snorkel/SCUBA gear you may own.

How long is the class?

The length of the class depends on the number of students. Usual the Home Study class runs for six to eight hours and the Traditional weekend class runs for eight hours on both Saturday and Sunday.

The Ocean weekend starts at 9:00 AM and ends usual around 3:00 PM on both days.

I know the equipment I use in the pool is included but what about the equipment for the ocean weekend?

AcmeScuba provides the pool session equipment and it is your responsibility to arrange for the equipment for the ocean weekend. Bamboo Reef in Rohnert Park provides equipment to AcmeScuba students for the pool sessions so we suggest using Bamboo Reef for your ocean rentals as well. It only makes sense to use the same gear you are already comfortable with. Tom Stone is the owner and will be happy to assist you in sizing you gear. You can call him at 707-586-0272.

What equipment do I need?

We recommend that each student owns certain items of equipment. Because every face is different we suggest you have you own mask and snorkel. If the mask leaks and is too small you will not have a pleasant experience. Feet are the same way so we suggest that you have your own fins and booties to go with them. These items are basic for snorkeling as well as scuba diving. Although you may rent everything you need we recommend owning these items.

This is a complete list of equipment you will need.

  1. Buoyancy compensator
  2. Regulator w/ Octopus, depth and pressure gauges, compass and low pressure inflator hose.
  3. Tank
